The Waves of Danube: From Regensburg down to Danube Delta

Central Europe, Romania

15 Day tour from Regensburg to Danube Delta celebrating the river. It covers Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia and Romania

New: Guaranteed departure October 2 2018

Introduction

Danube is the longest West-east waterway and the second longest in Europe. Ten nations, four capitals, numerous regions and nationalities are linked by Danube. The Danube played a vital role in the settlement and political evolution of central and southeastern Europe. Its banks, lined with castles and fortresses, formed the boundary between great empires, and its waters served as a vital commercial highway between nations. The river’s majesty has long been celebrated in music. The famous waltz  An der schönen, blauen Donau (The Blue Danube, written in 1867) by Johann Strauss the Younger, became the symbol of imperial Vienna. Another famous waltz is Valurile Dunarii (The Waves of Danube, written in 1880) by Romanian composer Iosif Ivanovici and is one of the most famous Romanian tunes in the world.

Period of validity: 15th of May – 31st of October 2018/2019 for groups of 16/34 guests.
